Utah attorney Stephen Howard graduated cum laude from the Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark School of Law. His academic honors include membership in the National Order of Barristers, and receipt of the American College of Trial Lawyers Medal for Excellence in Advocacy. He has served previously as a member of the Board of Directors and as interim Executive Director of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Trusted and recognized for his knowledge, skill, and attention to detail, Stephen Howard has assisted clients a trial lawyer, advocate, negotiator, and legal counselor since 1999.
Mr. Howard began his legal career working with the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association (“LDA”). During more than a decade at LDA, Mr. Howard acquired more real courtroom experience than many attorneys will see during an entire career.
While employed at LDA, Mr. Howard worked in the appellate division, as a trial attorney, and eventually as part of the capital defense team. His successes include appeals, trials, motion practice and more. His hard work and dedication have contributed to successful outcomes for his clients, both in and out of the courtroom.
In the years since entering private practice, Mr. Howard has also enjoyed the opportunity to help provide peace of mind to individuals and families, by helping them to create wills, trusts, and other estate planning tools. He also works with clients in the the field of family law, assisting them in adoptions, guardianships, and more.
